Within the play, things may appear as the honest truth but in reality most things are corrupted by evil. While Hamlet tries to avenge his father's murderer, the theme of appearance versus reality stays constant. Many characters in the play may appear honest, truthful, and caring, but in reality they are hiding their dishonest, disloyal and cruel personalities. In the play, the characters are trying to conceal their true evil intentions while trying to figure out what other people are thinking.
